Jamieson Ricca takes great pride in completing two phases of window replacement at the City of Akron’s tallest building. The First Merit Tower or the First Central Trust Building has remained the tallest building in Akron since its completion in 1931. The building is at the corner of South Main Street and West Mill Street. The tower has 27 stories, has a height of 330 feet, contains over 1,200 windows, is of the art deco style and is covered in glazed architectural terra-cotta. Other impressive features included a lobby built with Tennessee marble, white brick, and terra cotta, and the large banking hall with arched windows.
The tower was built on the former site of the Hamilton Building, which was completed in 1900.The First Merit Tower is the centerpiece of downtown Akron, towers over the rest of the city, and can be viewed from miles away. The tower is also visible at night, as the building's crown is impressivley lit.
Jamieson Ricca carefully replaced original steel windows with new thermally improved aluminum windows from Graham Architectural Products. With a heavy duty balance system, a high performance finish and an architectural rating, the new window units will serve the building and its occupants for years and years to come.
Jamieson Ricca’s specialty is monumental window replacement. Only years and years of experience can guarantee the right window replacement. Trust only the best with your window replacement project. We have been providing this trust since 1969. |
